How can you protect an outdoor hoist?
Hoists stored outdoors face a range of difficulties from exposure to the elements. Ice, snow, rain and condensation can cause electrical components to short-circuit as well as motors, limit switches, pendants and control enclosures to fill with water and corrode.
To ensure your hoist’s operation and protect your investment, a Hoist Shelter provides necessary protection from precipitation and sunlight.
Model: HS4896 Hoist Shelter
Our hoist shelters protect your outdoor hoisting equipment from the elements, reducing downtime and extending the life of your hoist. The HS4896 model is made to the following specifications:
- Size: 8 feet long x 4 feet wide
- Materials: Galvanized sheet metal roof and frame, UV-resistant PVC weather stripping sides.
- Installation: By purchaser, instructions provided

What size Hoist Shelter do you need?
As a rule for sizing, a Hoist Shelter should cover one to two feet in each direction around the hoist to allow for weather protection and air circulation.
A model #HS4896 Hoist Shelter is suited to cover a wire rope hoist, including hoists made by ACCO MHS or for example, a Yale Cable King wire rope hoist.
Why use a Hoist Shelter?
Our outdoor hoist shelters provide an economical and effective way to protect an outside hoist from the negative effects of the weather. Benefits of using a hoist shelter include:
- Protection from precipitation and sunlight that leads to condensation inside the hoist
- Galvanized steel roof and UV-resistant PVC siding provide a durable, lasting cover
- Cost savings on replacement and maintenance services for the hoist’s lifetime
- Use in addition to weather-proof coating on the hoist for especially corrosive environments
- Add years of life to an outdoor hoist
