Standards for Bridge Crane Fabrication

Our bridge cranes are fabricated by certified welders and welded in accordance with the American Welding Society’s standard D14.1. Only punched or drilled holes are created in load-bearing steel, with no flame cut holes allowed.

Standards for Bridge Crane Materials

All structural components used by Sveda Cranes meet a minimum of the American Society of Testing & Materials (ASTM) A-36 designation. All tubing meets the ASTM A-500 standard, and all pipes are grade ASTM A-53. Round bar and plate materials have a minimum yield strength of 36 kilo-pound per square inch (KSI).

Bridge Crane Deflection Standards

Sveda Cranes considers both stress and deflection in crane design, resulting in a stricter guideline. We fabricate bridge cranes with the design guideline L/450, where L is the support distance center and the difference in elevation of the track between and unloaded crane and a fully loaded crane is measured in inches.

Crane Capacity Standard

Sveda Cranes have a design factor of 15% of the allowable capacity for impact and 15% of the allowable capacity for hoist weight.

Bridge Crane Painting Standards

Sveda Bridge Cranes are finished with a high-quality industrial enamel. Prior to painting, structural components are cleaned as per the Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC) SP1, SP2 and SP3 guidelines. For specialty applications, some components are hot dipped galvanized or electroless nickel plated, and customized finishes are available.
