Metal Fabrication Crane Systems
Metal fabrication requires material handling equipment that’s safe, reliable and durable enough to meet the rigorous needs of the steel and metal industry. With over 50 years of crane industry experience, we are able to provide overhead lifting solutions for metal shops and plants that include overhead bridge cranes, workstation cranes, jib cranes, gantry cranes and hoists. We offer both factory-standard equipment as well as custom-engineered solutions, installation, repairs, inspections and training to meet your metal shop’s unique material handling needs.
Whether you’re working with loose parts, weldments, sheet metal or structural metal, Shupper-Brickle Equipment can provide you with versatile and reliable solutions for handling material in your metal fabrication shop or plant. Contact us today for a free estimate.
Safe & Efficient Solutions for Metal Shops
From initial machining and finishing to unloading scrape and storing finished products, metal shops require a lot of heavy lifting. All that moving, lifting and organizing requires safety and precision. While it’s certainly not an easy task, it can be made easier with the help of an overhead lifting system. Overhead crane and hoist systems can increase productivity, capacity and safety in metal machining and fabricating shops as well as moving metal for shipping, storing and sorting.
- Crane and hoist systems are designed for heavy-duty, heavy load carrying with capacities ranging from ¼ ton to 1,000 tons
- Cranes can be used under harsh conditions and in environments with high temperature, high grade dust and strong vibrations
- Cranes require less aisle space than forklifts
- Cranes can radically change your personnel needs by allowing your station operator to pick up and move the materials without help
- Cranes provide precision and speed, typically causing less damage to materials
Cranes & Hoists Used in Metal Fabrication Shops & Plants
While the specific lifting equipment recommended for your application will be determined by the unique requirements of your metal shop and the materials you are moving, these are the more common cranes we recommend for metal fabrication.
Overhead Bridge Crane
Overhead bridge cranes are a permanent improvement that offers two directional lifting - up and down as well as side to side along the beam's length. They save space and time moving products and allow for a more efficient manufacturing floor. We offer all types of bridge cranes up to a 40-Ton capacity to meet everything from light manufacturing to heavy industrial needs.
Jib Cranes
Jib Cranes are some of the most versatile cranes, offering capacities from 250 lbs. to 15 tons and a design that allows it to move loads in a wide range of ways. They can be wall mounted, floor mounted, ceiling mounted or free standing and are often used for repetitive lifting tasks as well as to move loads into hard-to-reach places, place materials on production lines and load or unload materials from ships and trucks. They also have fewer operational components than other cranes, requiring less maintenance.
Gantry Cranes
Gantry cranes are portable and sometimes adjustable, making them more versatile and often more cost-effective than a permanent bridge crane. They can be used to lift and transport a variety of heavy objects including transporting smaller materials around a factory or massive objects at metal scrap yards.
Workstation Cranes
A workstation crane is a type of overhead lifting system that moves heavy loads within a workspace. They help improve workplace safety, productivity, and quality for a variety of industries including machine shops, car manufacturers and processing plants. Their lifting capacity can range from 150 lbs. to around 2 tons and they are designed to be ergonomic and user-friendly.
Hoists
Made up of pulleys, cables, or chains, a hoist is a mechanical device used for lifting or lowering heavy loads. They are commonly used in construction, manufacturing, and other industrial applications and recommended for short and frequent lifting, like on a plant or factory floor. They can easily be mounted on trolleys on overhead cranes. We offer a wide variety of manual, electric and pneumatic hoists that can make moving materials around your metal fabrication shop easier.
Installing an Overhead Lifting System in Your Metal Shop
By lifting from above a crane system can provide you with safe, efficient and durable material handling in your metal fabrication shop or plant. However, there are still many factors to consider when installing a crane, such as ceiling height and obstructions, size and shape of the shop and building structure.
With over 50 years of experience in overhead lifting, Shupper-Brickle Equipment can help you determine what overhead material handling and lifting equipment is best suited to meet all the needs of your metal fabrication shop. We also provide comprehensive hoist and crane repairs, inspections, engineering and safety services at your location in the Mid-Atlantic States or in our hoist repair workshop in Clarksburg, NJ.
